A new orchid is presented to The Queen at Chelsea
The Sir Simon Milton Foundation launched a new and innovative hardy garden orchid at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in May 2016 as part of the Foundation’s Urban Connections Garden sponsored by the Victoria BID, which highlights the work that the Foundation is doing to tackle loneliness among older people.
These beautiful new orchids have been especially bred for the Sir Simon Milton Foundation by Michael Tibbs, a world renowned orchid expert, grower and breeder. To celebrate the launch of our new orchid we commissioned Botanical Artist, Holly Somerville to paint Dactylorhiza SIR SIMON MILTON in watercolour.
The first three plants were presented to Her Majesty The Queen by the Foundation at the Flower Show for Her 90th birthday. They
now reside in the herbaceous border in Buckingham Palace.
